When photographer Jim Goldberg took photos of the rich and poor people living in San Francisco, U.S.A, he asked them to share their personal stories too—by making them write about themselves on their portraits.

The photos of this large art photography project that took place over the course of 8 years between 1977 and 1985, show differences between the rich and the poor but most importantly emotions conveyed through their notes. Very quickly, we come to realisation that no matter who you are and where you come from, emotions put everyone back on a common ground: fears, desires, struggles, joy or pain that we all experience.
